The use of imagery and color can affect the way a person feels. Studies show that therapeutic murals in hospitals provide holistic healing to any child who is about to be examined or given treatment. The presence of these colorful murals is also a powerful way of relieving stress and easing the hearts and minds of its visitors.
A number of people who have visited the Philippine Children's Medical Center have been, in one way or another, inspired by the wall murals found around the hospital (i.e. the story of
Munting Patak-ulan). However, most of the paintings have already deteriorirated or have been lost due to time.

The Philippine Children’s Medical Center is one of the government-owned and controlled corporate National Centers for Specialized Health Care under the Department of Health. It is a 200-bed capacity tertiary hospital with a mandate to provide pediatric care, offer training programs for medical and allied health care providers, and be a center in clinical research.
