You read the title right. WoH is now open for submissions. We’re pretty sure we aren’t the only ones who took pictures during the event, so why don’t you share your photos and tell a little something about your WoH experience? :)

But like anything else in this world, we do have guidelines for you. Aw, shucks guidelines.

You can only submit photos, notes, or articles that’s related to the event. If you have issues about copyright, then you’d be glad to hear that we won’t take credit for your submissions (do I hear a hallelujah? :D) because that’s actually punishable by law (we don’t have that much money so really, trust us that we won’t claim ownership of your submissions). Actually, it would be better if you would submit photos with watermarks to avoid Internet theft (or for articles, write your names/pseudonyms).
You can share your opinion about the event, and that includes constructive crit, if you have any. Constructive crit is good, but do know that there’s a difference between constructive crit to flaming (if you’re a fanfiction writer or reader at some point in your life, you’d probably understand this). We would like to hear feedback from everyone who joined the event. :)

So there. Submit all you want, it’s okay. :D Just make sure to comply with the guidelines. Thanks much!

Also, we are very grateful that even if the event is already done, you’re still following WoH in Tumblr. We really appreciate your support. See you in our future events! If we have future events, that is.

Hello dear followers! :D

I know it’s a bit late for something like this, but in behalf of the WoH team, I would like to express our thankfulness for everyone who made WoH possible. Thanks for those who helped us prime some of the walls, outline the line drawings and paint. We’re also grateful for those who donated and prayed for us (haha). God is indeed a provider. :)

I dropped by at PCMC last month. The paintings are still in good condition. You can also drop by at the hospital if you have time. I’m sure you want to see the awesomeness that you’ve done. :D

P.S. Pardon any grammatical errors. I’m kind of paranoid with anything that’s related to grammar. Ha. XD

Walls of Hope. Seated is my friend Tomas Leonor (Mr. Step Juan Himself), he’s the lead artist for this wall. We need your help. If you can drop by the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (Lungsod Kabataan) in Quezon City, then join the fun and help in coloring in the wonderful patterns he had created on the wall. However, because the project’s near completion, it’s best if you inquire first about the schedule. Today, Tomas will be staying until 7pm, and then, he’ll be back to work on the 26th. There are 6 walls/murals all in all, but I have NO IDEA about the progress of the other projects, so I can’t guarantee anything. Maybe they still need volunteers, maybe they’re done. If you’re feeling adventurous, just drop by the hospital and ask around.

Hello Walls of Hope Volunteers!!!

The ribbon cutting and art exhibit has been moved to a later date. We will be informing all volunteers and donors re: the changes as soon as we finalize the details.
We need artists and volunteers who are willing to do finishing touches today! There will be no briefing anymore, just approach the area artists or anyone from the core team so that they can give you tasks :)
Don’t forget to leave your hand print on the WOH wall!!! If you volunteered during the first two days and weren’t able to do the hand print, we suggest you visit PCMC to do so. You will be amazed to see the walls alive with COLOR! :)

Looking For A Different Kind of Christmas?

Who are we?

Walls of Hope was initiated by a group of friends who have been brought together by their common attachment to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center. We were once patients, students and visitors of PCMC who have been inspired by the wall murals found around the hospital (esp. Gloria Villaraza Guzman’s Munting Patak-ulan).

What is Walls of Hope?

Most of the wall paintings in the hospital have already deteriorated or have been lost due to time. Walls of Hope is our way of giving back to the hospital that once catered to the health needs of our generation back when we were young. This is our attempt to help bring back the hope that the hospital walls has been known to give to its patients and to help sustain it to be experienced by future generations. The presence of these colorful murals is a powerful way of relieving stress and easing the hearts and minds of its visitors.

It is a 3-day event scheduled to happen on December 19-21, 2009. Volunteers are not required to be present during the whole duration of the event - even just an hour of your time already means a lot to us! The goal is to finish painting the whole first floor of the hospital in 3 days!

How can YOU help?

Donate money: WOH needs to raise enough funds to cover paint costs and food expenses for volunteers. Whatever extra money that the project raises will be donated to the PCMC Cancer ward. Monetary donations will be coursed through the PCMC bank account for Walls of Hope. You can e-mail us at pcmc.wallsofhope@gmail.com for more details on how you can contribute to making WOH happen.
Donate lead-free paint: WOH also accepts lead-free paint donations. Any color will be highly valued but white would be most preferred (for base coats). Send us a message so that we can arrange a pick up point that’s convenient to you.
Volunteer: Artists and non-artists are welcome!
- Kindly complete the WOH registration form (http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/74532/WOH_Volunteer_Registration.doc ) and email it to pcmc.wallsofhope@gmail.com by December 5, 2009.
- After you send us your registration information, we will be sending you your copy of the WOH volunteer guide.
- Walk-ins are allowed but only pre-registered volunteers will be given the Walls of Hope Baller ID.
- We will provide all the volunteers with free parking at PCMC during the duration of the event.
